1. The Dragon King - Published August, 2015 by Mithras Books
Safire has lived within a community of dragons for five years, ever since a band of raiders wiped out her village. When the King of Argrisia declares war on all remaining dragons, her community is disrupted and she ends up traveling with a small band of warriors on their way to see an oracle. Each of the five companions has their own secrets, which are revealed one by one as they travel. Safire finds that she is a changeling and has already developed the ability to transform into a dragon at will. When they reach the oracle, Safire discovers she can play a role in bringing the burgeoning conflict between dragons and humans to a peaceful conclusion. But her first step will be convincing her companions she can still be trusted in spite of her frightening abilities. In the course of their journey to the dragon king’s mountain home on the orders of the oracle, all five travelers become united in their desire to see peace restored in the Midlands. But even peace will require sacrifice. 2. The Ikern Shards- Published October, 2016 by Mithras Books
With Ryan’s father firmly on the Argrisian throne, the abortive war against dragonkind comes to an end. In fact, Safire and her friends help the new king fashion an alliance with the dragons. Wanting to return the Midlands to the more prosperous times when the seven races worked together, the king asks the group to travel to the elven capital. On the way there, they encounter evidence that unrest is once again engulfing the Midlands. They meet a magical being named Magnus who informs them of the return of an ancient necromancer intent on terrorizing the world yet again. Rangel plans to reconstruct the Ikern Swords and use them to establish dominion over all the races. Magnus tasks them with collecting the shards of these shattered weapons and keeping them safe. Embarking on this mission leads them to range far and wide as they search for ways to combat the growing power of the army that menaces not only the Midlands but the entire continent as well. 3. Rise of the League
Rangel’s forces are on the move and the necromancer’s war for domination of Valkur and the Midlands is in full swing. The human kingdom of Argrisia, the trolls, dragons and dryads are assembled against him in opposition. Safire and the rest of her companions do their best to support the war effort as they travel back and forth, tracking down and protecting the Ikern Shards Rangel seeks to re-forge into swords to increase his power. Even without these ancient weapons, Rangel throws the Midlands into chaos. He also manages to collect several of the shards despite their best efforts. When Rangel awakens a race of powerful ancient beings called the Dalku, they realize that the forces now rallied against Rangel and calling themselves the League will not be nearly enough to keep the shards out of his grasp. All the races must unite and lend their strength to the battle if they are all to survive. 4. Divisions
The League formed to oppose Rangel’s army faces internal strife even as its leaders try to present a unified front against the creatures from myth and legend the necromancer brought back from banishment. Meanwhile, all nine of the Ikern Shards are unearthed, bringing Rangel that much closer to his goal of re-forging the ancient weapons to aid him in his quest to win control over the Midlands. When a betrayal results in the theft of the shards they are guarding, Safire and her companions are forced to travel into the depths of Cira Forest to meet with Magnus and get his advice on their next step. He sends them even further east into the forest toward the temple where Rangel’s own body was interred years ago. But the Cira Forest is steeped in old magic and is perhaps home to more secrets and challenges than Safire and her friends can overcome no matter how much they’re willing to risk. 5. Shades of the Past
Now that Rangel has remade the Ikern Swords and put them to work elevating the strength of his forces, the stage is set for his triumph. Even as he travels to rejoin his army, the two halves of the League, the alliance formed to oppose him, race to reunite before the final battle. In a last ditch effort to gather more allies, Safire and her friends head into the frozen north to try and awaken some ancient forces of their own. Meanwhile, they learn more about Rangel’s origins and motivations, none of which are what they expect. Allies from strange places come out of the woodwork and add themselves to the strength of the League but it may take more than this to put a stop to Rangel and the plans he has been nursing for millennia. |
